Diaz voted Eastern League Player of the Week

Baltimore Orioles No. 2 overall prospect, outfielder Yusniel Diaz, has been elected Eastern League Player of the Week for the period of June 10 – June 16.

Diaz, who is MLB.com‘s No. 76 overall prospect in all of baseball, went an impressive 8-for-22 (.364) with two doubles, three home runs, 12 RBI, seven runs scored, four walks, and an .864 slugging percentage in six games played.

Diaz has batted .248/.333/.401 in 37 games between Single-A Frederick and Double-A Bowie this season. Diaz has played 31 of those games with the Bowie Baysox.

Although the 22-year-old will most likely not make the major league club this season, earning the Eastern League Player of the Week honor will certainly help pave the way for Diaz.
