Shorebirds send league-leading 8 players to 2019 South Atlantic League All-Star Game

The Delmarva Shorebirds are absolutely dominating the South Atlantic League, holding a current record of 43-13.

The Shorebirds are stacked with a load of young talent all around the diamond, and it is not a surprise they are sending the most players to the All-Star game.

These eight selections heading to the North Division roster include pitchers Grayson Rodriguez, Zach Matson, Ofelky Peralta, and Drew Rom. The Shorebirds are also sending shortstop Adam Hall, catcher Daniel Fajardo, OF Doran Turchin, and Seamus Curran as the designated hitter.

Grayson Rodriguez, the Orioles eleventh overall pick in the 2018 draft, headlines this roster with a stellar 6-0 record and a 1.47 era in eight appearances.

The Shorebirds also showcase pitchers Drew Rom, Zach Matson, and Ofelky Peralta. Between these three pitchers, all are 4-0 and hold a sub-two era. Not one pitcher heading to the All-Star game for the Shorebirds has lost a game this season.

The Delmarva Shorebirds also are showcasing some fine position player talent, including Adam Hall, who was drafted sixtieth overall in 2017. Hall has a fantastic .322 average paired with 23 RBI.

Seamus Curran is getting the start as the designated hitter. Curran has a .222 average, but has hit 10 home runs thus far and has knocked in 26 RBI.

Doran Turchin was selected as an outfielder. Also loaded with great defense, Turchin holds a .263 average with a whopping 39 runs batted in.

Lastly, Daniel Fajardo got the nod as the starting catcher for the All-Star game. Fajardo has a solid .270 average and also has a .294 OBP.

Make sure you do not miss our baby birds, as they headline this year’s North Division team in the South Atlantic League All-Star Game. The game is taking place in Charleston, West Virginia at Appalachian Power Park on Tuesday, June 18.
