D.C. United plays one more friendly tonight

D.C. United will host Club Puebla from Liga MX on Wednesday night, taking a brief hiatus from MLS play. Kickoff from Audi Field is at 8 p.m.

Club Puebla is ranked 17th out of 19 teams in the Liga MX, earning six points in seven games posting a 1-3-3 record. Most recently they played to a 1-1 draw against number one Queretaro on Sunday. Puebla’s lone goal came in the 90th minute from Pablo Gonzalez for an equalizer. Despite the struggling season, they’ve been playing their best soccer. Not only did they draw with the number one team but they earned their first and lone win the game before on August 29 in a 2-1 win over Juarez.

D.C. United takes a break from MLS action but is in good spirits following a 3-0 win at the Montreal Impact. Newcomer Ola Kamara scored twice and Paul Arriola added a goal of his own. They’ll have the weekend off and get some extra rest after tonight’s match before heading to Portland next Sunday.

Expect to see a mix of first team players as well as some prospects from Loudoun United FC. It’ll be much different than D.C. United’s last friendly against French Ligue Marseille.

“It will be a different group than we played last time against the French group because the timing is such where we have a break afterwards, and some guys will get 30 (minutes), some guys will get 45 (minutes),” said D.C. United head coach Ben Olsen. “A little bit of a puzzle, but it will be probably the best team that we put forward for one of these friendlies, again, because of the circumstances.”

Again kickoff tonight from Audi Field is at 8 p.m.
