D.C. United wins on last-minute, hat-trick goal.

The excitement at Audi Field had one of the greatest endings a fan could ask for. D.C. United won 3-2 against Orlando City SC in the fourth game at Audi Field. The game was most notably known for the hat-trick scored by Luciano Acosta. With this win, D.C. United will stay in last with 21 points in the Eastern Conference, but are now only two points away from most teams under 6th place in the conference.

The scoring began when Luciano Acosta headed in a shot in the third minute of stoppage time in the first half. Then, Orlando scored the first of four goals in the second half when Oriol Rosell scored a goal that deflected off the leg of D.C. United keeper David Ousted in the 51′. The dynamic of the entire match changed when Cristian Higuita of Orlando City SC elbowed D.C. midfielder Yamil Asad in the head, and was shown a red card, meaning he will not be available to play next week. Luciano Acosta then would score his second goal in in the 64′, getting a goal through the legs of Joe Bendik. The lead would only last 7 minutes when Orlando forward Dom Dwyer chipped a shot that went in the net in the 71′ to level up the match. The key part of the match and what is going to be considered the highlight of the game was when on a corner, Ousted came out. The ball was cleared, and before Ousted could get to the goal, Wayne Rooney slide tackled Will Johnson and stole the ball from him. He then made a gigantic cross which Acosta would head in for goal number 3.

D.C. United’s next match is a home game on Wednesday against the Portland Timbers who are third place in the Western Conference with 37 points. They are going to have to be careful of last year’s MVP, Diego Valeri, and the other threats on the Timbers.
