D.C. United Summer Recap (So Far)

D.C. United had a lot going on. Audi Field got awarded the All Star Game for next year. Fan Duel opened a sports book. And Wayne Rooney is the new head coach. But there has also been action on the pitch that has included an international friendly that had the fortress sold out and rocking. We’ll look at those games here.

D.C. United vs. Nashville SC 6/25

D.C. United fell at home to wrap up the month of June. They dug themselves in a 3-0 hole early on. Daniel Lovitz scored in the sixth minute. Hey Hukhtar added two in the 45th and 50th minute. D.C. United’s lone goal came from none other than red hot Taxiarchis Fountas in the 59th minute.

D.C. United at Orlando City 7/4

D.C. United got an offensive explosion of a win thanks to a hat trick from Taxi in the fifth, eighth, and 51st minute and added a goal from Kimarni Smith in the 74th minute and Nigel Robertha in stoppage time to seal the win and fend off a late second half comeback by the hosts.

After D.C. United dug themselves in a 2-0 hole in the second half they used a late comeback. Taxi started it in the 80th minute and Ola Kamara ensured the Black and Red would come away with a point scoring the equalizer in stoppage time.

D.C. United vs. FC Bayern 7/20

L 2-6

In front of a sellout crowd at Audi Field D.C. United put on a show. They got two goals in the second half from Skate Simonsen in the 54th minute and Theodore Ku DiPietro in the 83rd minute. Bayern just simply lit it up.

D.C. United vs. Montreal Impact 7/23

L 1-2

D.C. United dug themselves in a 2-0 hole in the first half. They got a goal in the 56th minute from Steve Birnbaum but failed to get the equalizer.

D.C. United ends the month with a home rematch with Orlando City this Sunday at 5.
