D.C. United is Cutting the Cord to Offer Fans Subscription Service to Watch Games

D.C. United games will no longer be showen on T.V., except for the 12 games on the schedule that will be nationally televised on either ESPN or FS1. The team used to air their games on Comcast Sports Net (now NBC Sports Washington) and recently WJLA 24/7 (formally called News Channel 8). With the latter contract running out, D.C. United’s broadcasts are going in a new direction.

The team has announced a multi-year partnership with FloSports to broadcast 21 of DCU’s 34 regular season matches beginning this upcoming season. This service will be available to all black-and-red fans in the DMV area stretching all the way to Richmond and Delaware. The games will be broadcasted in both English and Spanish.

But FloSports will offer more than just the games for your buck. You’ll also be able to see exclusive shows centered on D.C. United. Ever wanted to go behind the scenes with your team or Wayne Rooney. Now is your chance.

There are pros and cons to everything but perhaps the biggest pro is now you can watch D.C. United games and programming anytime and anywhere. If you have to leave the house, you won’t have to worry about missing any of the action. Games can be streamed on iOS, Roku or Apple TV.

If you’re a season ticket holder or a member of a supporter’s club, you can receive a discounted subscription at $5.99 per month. Other fans who purchase the package will be charged $8.99 per month.

D.C. United have announced a multiyear broadcast partnership agreement with FloSports, to provide year-round content with live and on-demand coverage for all non-nationally broadcast D.C. United home and away matches including other select games beginning in 2019. The coverage will be available to anyone within the DMV region which roughly stretches from Richmond, Va., to all of D.C., Maryland and Delaware.

The agreement will also feature both English and Spanish-language content and all broadcasts will be in high definition.

All games in this partnership will be aired on FloFC.com, which is dedicated entirely to soccer content and coverage. In addition to being the home for live streamed matches, FloFC will feature original D.C. United programming and exclusive content, highlighted by behind-the-scenes access, preseason training coverage, and more.

“D.C. United are committed to providing fans with an innovative and high-quality viewing experience for all of our regionally broadcast matches,” Sam Porter, D.C. United senior vice president, said. “Our partnership with FloSports presents a unique opportunity for fans to get behind-the-scenes access to the D.C. United club, including Wayne Rooney, Luciano Acosta, Bill Hamid and Paul Arriola, while also providing a world-class broadcast production for viewers.”

D.C. United Season Ticket Members, partners and supporters’ group members (Screaming Eagles, La Barra Brava, and the District Ultras) can receive discounted subscriptions at $5.99/month. Other individuals who purchase this package from D.C. United will be charged $8.99/month.

Fans can watch the matches across all screens by downloading the FloSports app on iOS, Roku, or Apple TV 4.
