D.C. United hosts Chicago Fire

D.C. United is back on their home pitch after a brief stop in New England over Memorial Day weekend.

Tonight they will host the Chicago Fire. D.C. United is coming off a 1-1 draw against the Revolution. Wayne Rooney scored the equalizer. The Black and Red are hungry for three points Wednesday night to keep their lead atop the Eastern Conference.

D.C. United carries a 7-4-4 recored with 25 points, just a point ahead of second place Philadelphia Union. The Chicago Fire is just on the outside looking in with a 4-5-5 record for 17 points. They are in eighth place just outside of the seventh and final playoff spot.

Like the Black and Red, the Fire are coming off a 1-1 draw themselves against New York City FC. CJ Sapong had the goal for Chicago. They are 2-1-2 in their last five matches. Those two wins came on the road in Minnesota and New England.

This is the first meeting between D.C. United and the Chicago Fire this season. The last meeting came on the final day of the regular season in Chicago in a scoreless draw. They met a few weeks prior at Audi Field where D.C. United pulled off a 2-1 victory.
