D.C. United gives up late goal in 1-0 loss to Minnesota

D.C. United fought hard but came up short in a 1-0 loss to Minnesota United Sunday afternoon. Minnesota United won their first ever home match at brand new Allianz Field. The goal came from Romaine Metanire in the 82nd minute.

It looked early on that the Black and Red were going to continue their road warrior mentality for the 2019 season. They have won their last three games away from Audi Field. D.C. United seemed to take an early 1-0 lead with the first career MLS goal for homegrown center back Donovan Pines. He finished off a pass from Wayne Rooney.

Unfortunately Pines will have to wait at least another game to notch his first MLS goal. It was waved off after video review indicated that defender, Frederic Brilliant, interfered with Minnesota goalkeeper, Vito Mannone.

D.C. United returns home for a rematch with the Columbus Crew this Saturday night. Kickoff from Audi Field is at 8 p.m.
