D.C. United gets shutout in Dallas

On the 4th of July, D.C. United hit the road to the Lone Star state to take on FC Dallas. Fresh off a big win over Orlando City SC and a 1-1 draw vs. Toronto FC at Audi Field, the Black and Red looked to keep their momentum up in the climb to the top of the Eastern Conference. D.C. United came up on the wrong end of a shutout Thursday night, the final 2-0. The loss sets D.C. United (8-7-5, 25 points) four points behind the Philadelphia Union.

Santiago Mosquera gave FC Dallas a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute with his first goal of the season and the hosts never looked back. They doubled that lead to 2-0 in the 65th minute thanks to Dominque Badji.

It was a frustrating night all around for the Black and Red. FC Dallas outshot them 23-8 including a whopping 9-1 on target. The hosts also controlled possession 57.6%-42.4%.

D.C. United returns to Audi Field next Friday on July 12th at 7 p.m. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
