D.C. United falls to Inter Miami CF

D.C. United lost a heartbreaker last Sunday at Audi Field. They fought to the end but fell short in a 3-2 loss.

Chritian Benteke scored in the 22nd minute to put the Black and Red up early. It was his first career MLS goal. Chris Durkin had the assist which was his sixth of the season.

Inter Miami CF would then get on the board in the 39th minute on a goal from Leonardo Campana. 1-1 was the score at the half. In the 53rd minute, Inter Miami CF took the lead on Campana’s second goal of the game.

Four minutes later D.C. United tied it on Taxi Fountas’ 12th goal of the season. But the Black and Red would miss their chance at getting one point or three when Gonzalo Higuain scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

There’s two games left to close out the season. First up is an Oct. 1 road contest at 7:30 p.m. against the Montreal Impact.
