D.C. United and FC Cincinnati play to scoreless draw

D.C. United was back in action on Friday night on the road. They played to a scoreless draw with FC Cincinnati as neither team was able to find the back of the net. After the team was in Orlando for the MLS is Back Tournament, the teams are finishing the season in their home markets.

D.C. United head coach Ben Olsen changed things up with his lineup going with a three center back system in a 3-5-2 format. Donavan Pines returned to the starting lineup for the first time since August 2019 and had a solid night.

Homegrown midfielder Kevin Paredes made his first MLS start after an impressive performance in the MLS is Back Tournament. D.C. United had an opportunity to strike in the 24th minute but was stopped. In the second half, Cincinnati had a look in the 85th minute that went off the post.

D.C. United will be back in action at Audi Field against the New England Revolution on August 25.
