Curry Torches the Wizards for 41 Points in Warriors’ Win Over Washington

The Washington Wizards can’t handle Stephen Curry and the Warriors in the District, losing 127-118 and dropping their second straight game.

The Wizards are still missing Bradley Beal, who played his last game on January 3rd against Milwaukee Bucks, due to his lingering hamstring injury.

On the other side of the ball, the Warriors were missing Klay Thompson, Jonathan Kuminga, and James Wiseman. However, they once again had Curry back in the lineup for the 4th straight game. Curry covered up for the absence of Klay, scoring 41 points in the Warriors’ win. Steph would also tack on 6 rebounds and 2 assists to complete the night.

Golden State’s usual six-man, Jordan Poole, got the nod in the starting five and put together a fantastic night for himself. Poole netted 32 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists while shooting an efficient 12-20 from the field.

Both teams were shooting well. The Warriors shot 49.5% from the field as a team to the Wizards’ 48%. Both also shot 40% from beyond the arc and over 87% from the line, meaning everyone who was on the court brought their shooting shoes for Monday’s matchup.

For Washington, it was Porzingis who was getting it done on the offense side of the ball, scoring 32 points. Now, Porzingis only brought in 5 rebounds but that was because Kyle Kuzma was hauling them all in, recording 11 rebounds to complete his 16-point, 11-rebound double-double.

Rui also finally found himself again off the bench scoring 16 points and shooting 7-9, including 2-3 from deep. However, he was nowhere to be found on the defensive side of the ball, amassing zero blocks and steals, while accumulating a plus/minus of -8.

There wasn’t much more to this loss other than the fact that the Wizards couldn’t contain Stephen Curry and got out-rebounded by the Warriors. Washington falls to 18-26, sitting 12th in the Eastern Conference. They suit up next on Wednesday in the Big Apple to face off against the New York Knicks. Tip-off for that game is at 7:30 pm EST.
