The Baltimore Orioles currently have a .500 record sitting at 10-10. The offense has been hit or miss for the Orioles but one thing it has lacked has been power. Chris Davis, Nick Markakis, Adam Jones, and J.J. Hardy have all been missing the home run power for the Orioles, they have three total home runs between the four of them. Nelson Cruz has six home runs and is currently batting .301.  Cruz’s six home runs is the team lead, Matt Wieters is second on the team with four homers.  Cruz has six of the Orioles 15 home runs on the season.

Cruz was a late addition for the Orioles and has more than lived up to expectations. The Orioles now probably wish that they signed Cruz to more than a one-year deal. Cruz also has four doubles.

Cruz has also played much better in the out field than most people expected.  Cruz has made all the catches that he has needed to make and has shown that he has a really strong arm.

The Orioles have only played a few games in good weather and that could be effecting the power of some of the hitters.  I think the rest of the hitters are close to breaking out of it and the Orioles have shown this year that when more than one player is locked in they can put up runs fast.

The Orioles hope that Cruz will continue his tear when everyone else starts getting hot.
