Coppin State beats Morgan State for second straight game, moves on in MEAC

The Coppin State Eagles have beaten the Morgan State Bears in men’s basketball for the second straight game. The Eagles won in the first round of the MEAC basketball tournament 81 to 71. The Bears held a lead for much of the game but late in the second half the Eagles started to pull away.

The Eagles and Bears played just days ago on March seventh, with the Eagles winning 83 to 69 at Morgan State. The Eagles and Bears are not just two Maryland rivals, they are two historically black colleges and Baltimore Rivals.

Coppin State guard Dejuan Clayton lead the Eagles with 23 points. The Eagles senior forward Chad Andrews-Fulton and senior guard Kent Auslander both had 12 points. Auslander was big coming off the bench.

The Bears freshman guard Sherwyn Devonish-Prince Jr. lead the Bears with 15 points.

Coppin State moves onto the quarterfinals in the MEAC and will face NC A&T on March thirteenth at 8pm. NC A&T has an 18 win and 12 loss record and will be heavy favorites.
