College Lax Preview: Loyola to faceoff against No. 5 Duke tonight

The Loyola men’s lacrosse team (4–1) is rebounded in a good way from their loss to Towson on Saturday in the Greyhounds conference opener with a 19-15 win at home against Holy Cross.

But even with the win, the shine that Loyola had throughout the first month of the season went away after the loss to the Tigers which knocked the Greyhounds from the number one spot in the rankings.

With a win Thursday night on the road against fifth-ranked Duke would do wonders for Coach Toomey’s team and show that his team is strong and can rise above the adversity.

Thursday game will air live on ESPNU with Anish Shroff calling the play-by-play. Quint Kessenich and Paul Carcaterra will provide the analysis. Fans can also watch online at WatchESPN.

Greyhounds senior Pat Spencer was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a hat trick and had eight assists in Loyola’s victory over Holy Cross. Having Spencer back on his game for Duke will be huge.

Freshman attackman Chase Scanlan was named Patriot League Rookie of the Week. Through five games Scanlan has 21 points.
