College Basketball Preview: Georgetown (18-11) at DePaul (14-13)

The Georgetown Hoyas find themselves firmly on the bubble for the NCAA tournament entering their last two regular season games. Today’s ESPN bracketology lists Georgetown as one of its “Next Four Out”. That outlook changes with a win at DePaul Wednesday night at 8:30 P.M.. Defeating the Blue Deamons on their home court will be no easy task despite their 6-10 Big East record. ESPN’s match-up predictor gives DePaul a 54.6% chance of winning and Vegas has installed them as a one point favorite.

When these two teams met in D.C. just one week ago, the Hoyas pulled out an 82-73 victory. Georgetown was led by Jessie Govan who poured in 26 points including three of four from beyond the three point arc. For the Hoyas to pull out the victory they will need to repeat the game plan from last week that saw them out rebound the Blue Demons 44-34 and DePaul is win less on the season when they are out-rebounded. The Hoyas will need another big game from Govan, who as averaged 15.6 points and 6 rebounds in eight career games against DePaul. Georgetown is playing for the post season and DePaul is playing for pride. Let’s see if Coach Ewing has his young squad ready to seize the moment.
