Chris Davis breaks record, goes 0-49

Four years ago, Baltimore Orioles slugger Chris Davis would have been known for leading the league in home runs in 2013 and 2015. Now in 2019, he is known for something worse.

Chris Davis’ last base hit was on September 14, 2018. Now on April 8, 2019, Davis passes Dodgers infielder, Eugenio VĂ©lez, who set the record back in 2011, going hitless in his 47th straight at-bat.

Everyone knows Chris Davis’ massive contract signed back in 2016 was a bad idea, but no one ever would have thought it would have gotten to this point. Only seven months removed from finishing with a record low .168 batting average in 2018, Davis is making headlines once again.

Despite having solid defense at first base, Chris Davis is known as arguably the worst player in Major League Baseball. Whether or not if he is being ridiculed too much for not caring and taking in the money or from over-thinking every at-bat, there is no denying Davis has completely lost his mojo at the plate.

It is unclear what the Orioles plan to do with Chris Davis, but for the time being, we must continue to watch the poor man struggle at the plate day in and day out. All Oriole fans would love to see a major comeback by Davis, although that seems very unlikely.
