DC season ends on 3-2 aggregate to RBNY

DC United started the second leg of their playoff matchup with the New York Red Bulls aggressively but with little composure. The resulting chances were of little threat to the Red Bulls goal keeper Luis Robles. Play settled down after a hectic first fifteen minutes. DC United, ready for another trophy

D.C. United v Houston DynamoDC United have gone 3-0-1 in MLS play since I pushed the panic button on September 21st after their draw with the Chicago Fire. Perhaps, I was simply being irrational and over reacting or maybe head coach Ben Olsen reminded his club of what lead them to this unexpected bounce back season. DC United extend contract with Ben Olsen

DC United and head coach Ben Olsen reached an agreement on a multi-year contract extension yesterday. Olsen’s record as head coach with United overall is underwhelming at 46-66-33. However, reflected in that record is the mediocre state the team was in when he took over the club in 2010. Despite the dreadful campaign last year, Olsen has guided the club to the playoffs in two of the last three years, the first trip ending a four year playoff drought. It should also be noted that even in the midst of the terrible MLS season, Olsen did guide United to the US Open Cup win adding to the the clubs hardware.
