McClement had this fight coming after he boarded Nicklas Backstrom and got away with it. The refs did not call a penalty on it when it could have been a double minor or five minute major. Chimera gets in his second fight of the season and gets his first win. McClement should have taken the visor off.

Also major props to Alex Ovechkin who tried to rough up McClement after the hit. Ovie might have got the lone penalty but that was a major mistake by the officials. The captain has never been shy about sticking up for players even if he does not get in many fights.

Matt Hendricks got goated into this fight. Draw

The Washington Capitals are back to their winning ways and they would not be where they are without their Captain Alex Ovechkin.  Right now the Caps are third in the playoff seeding.  Ovechkin has been more than hot lately he has been on fire with five goals in the past two games.

Many people wrote Ovechkin off earlier in the season saying that he lost his scoring touch and his legs.  Ovechkin did get off to a slow start but so did most of the Caps who were simply not ready for the season.

Now Ovechkin is tied with Steven Stamkos for the league lead in goals with 25 goals.  On Saturday, Ovechkin had three goals and an assist, for some that is a career game but Ovechkin has a few games like that a season.

The one thing Ovechkin is lacking are assist, he has 18, which is less than his goals scored.

Ovechkin is going to be a factor for the rest of the season.  Teams have always tried to take him away but the more they try the more his teammates get chances.  It is nice to see the Great Eight back to his scoring ways.  Hopefully he can keep it up with a good post season run.

Jason Chimera gets in his first fight of the season and he lost this one. You know anyone named Tyson is good at fighting… right?

The Washington Capitals made a deadline deal with the Nashville Predators to acquire Martin Erat and Michael Latta.  The Caps sent over first-round prospect Filip Forsberg.

Erat is an experienced forward with 163 career goals and 318 career assists. Latta is a goal scoring prospect who is going to report to the Caps AHL affiliate the Hershey Bears.

Forsberg was the 11th-overall draft pick for the Caps in the 2012 draft.  This is a questionable move because Forsberg was such a high draft pick and only 18-years old.  Forsberg is a center that has to have big potential.  The Caps could end up regretting this move in the future.  That said if the Caps make it into the playoffs and Erat helps them win their first Stanley Cup all will be ok.

Caps Captain Alex Ovechkin tweeted this welcoming Erat.
