Caps head to Madison Square Garden to face the Rangers in a nationally televised game on ESPN

The Washington Capitals are heading to New York, to one of the most recognizable arenas in the world. They are playing the New York Rangers. The Caps put a thumping on the New York Islanders. The team has been playing some stellar hockey, despite the results not going their way.

Darcy Kuemper has been a brick wall guarding the net. Kuemper has been facing upwards of 35 shots a game, sometimes more. He was a big reason why the game against New Jersey, went to a shootout. He also only gave up a single goal in the game with Islanders but quickly regained composure and held it down. He has a record 20-20-5 and a goals against average of 2.71. This makes his save percentage number .912. He also has recorded a total of five shootouts so far this season.

One of the Capitals trade acquisitions Rasmus Sandin has scored eight points in the past four games which is a Caps record. He also has had over 20 minutes of ice time per game. He has played a stellar game in the defense position and has solidified his place on the roster. He has been one of bigger surprises of the trade acquisitions.

This is a very big game for the Caps as they sit seven points out from a wildcard spot. This has them on the outside looking in. They are also the 11th best team in the East out of 16 teams.
