Caps continue out west, next stop the Kings

The Washington Capitals will face the Los Angeles Kings on the second stop of their three-game California road trip on tonight  at Staples Center. After dropping all three games last season on the western California trip and getting blanked in the opener of their current trip, the Capitals will try their luck on tonight against the Kings.

Phillipp Grubauer has won his last four starts. Washington’s captain Alex Ovechkin is closing in on a major milestone as he enters the game tonight just two goals short of 600 career goals. Evgeny Kuznetsov scored twice in the first game this season against the Kings. He is also set to play in career game number 350 tonight in the NHL. Washington has allowed a power-play goal in five of its last seven games.

Captain Anze Kopitar has seven points (two goals, five assists) in his past five games. Trevor Lewis has practiced throughout the week and could make his return after sitting out 12 games with an upper-body injury. Los Angeles winger Tanner Pearson and center Alex Iafallo have both scored in back-to-back games. The Kings have a 19-9-1 record against the Eastern Conference.
