Capitals Win Stadium Series Game 5-2

The Washington Capitals win in Annapolis 5-2 in stadium series game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Caps finally looked themselves and crushed the Leafs.

The Caps came out fast scoring the first goal on the power play with a goal from Evgeny Kuznetsov. Seconds later the Leafs tied it up with a goal from Zach Hymen.

Later, Alex Ovechkin would score his 598th career goal and 40th of the season to give the Caps the lead. Later the Capitals went back on the power play and scored a goal when Evgeny Kuznetsov made a beautiful pass to Nickolas Backstrom that gave the Capitals a 3-1 lead after the first period.

In the second period the leafs started off scoring a goal to make the score 3-2 after Nasam Kadri scored. Later John Carlson picked up a rebound from Chandler Stephenson to make it 4-2. Later Jakub Vrana got a breakaway and went five hole on Frederick Anderson.

The third period was more of a chess match with both teams going back and forth with shots. Braden Holtby looked himself stopping 27 shots.

Overall this was the Capitals team we all have missed recently after an average February. They out hit there opponent and controlled most of the game. The Capitals play next on Tuesday in Anaheim where they go on a west coast trip
