Capitals welcome the Oilers for their lone visit to DC

The Washington Capitals are playing against the Edmonton Oilers tonight. The Capitals are a very banged up team with about 40 million on the injury list. John Carlson is missing his 5th straight game tonight. Dmitry Orlov is a game time decision with a lower body injury. The Caps mentality almost all season has been next man up because they started the season with Tom Wilson and Nicklas Backstrom on the long term injured reserve. Charlie Lindgren is expected to get the start tonight in net, for his first game since starting against the Vegas Golden Knights. Lindgren boasts a save percentage of .919 and has a 3.03 goals against average. The Oilers are averaging 3.83 goals for per game, while giving up 3.50 goals per game. the Capitals are slightly worse at 2.69 goals for per game and 2.85 goals against average. Both teams are coming into the game on losing streaks. The Capitals leading scorer is none other than the Great 8, Alex Ovechkin who has 11 points, 7 goals and 4 assists. For the Oilers, Connor McDavid has 25 points, boasting 12 goals and 13 assists. Alex Ovechkin looks to not only move closer to surpassing Gordie Howe’s 801 goals and moving into second all time, but add to his newest record which is most goals with one franchise.
