Today, the Washington Capitals are welcoming the New Jersey Devils to town for a meeting. The Capitals are looking to bounce back after a loss to the Rangers. Lets look at some keys to the game.
For starters the team must stay hot at the faceoff dot. With winning faceoffs, the team can implement a game speed they wanna play at, clear the puck from the defensive zone, and tire the defense out in the offensive zone be keeping possesion.
Secondly the defense needs to tighten up just a bit. During the last game Dillion got cross checked in the back giving up the puck instead of clearing it which lead to the Rangers go ahead goal. The puck in this situation should’ve been cleared or passed however hindsight is 20/20.
Finally the goaltending has been superb and look for that to continue. The goaltending has been a positive for most of the season so look for the tandom of Vanacek and Samsonov to continue to split time.
