Capitals vs Senators, a Thursday night showdown in the District.

The Washington Capitals are welcoming the Ottawa Senators to town on one of the last two games they have in 2022. In the month of December, the Capitals are 11-2-1, having been on a role and winning the past 5 games. Their last loss was two weeks ago against Dallas. The entire team has been performing very well as the bottom 6 have looked really solid on the ice and the top 6 have done a great job of keeping the puck in the offensive zone and wearing out the defense. In the last game against the Rangers, the Caps killed off all 5 of their penalties, and scoring on their power plays, meaning the special teams is starting to look really solid. The goaltending has also been superb with Darcy Kuemper stopping all 32 shots in the last game, and Charlie Lindgren who started 8 consecutive games, in place of Kuemper who was injured, won 7 of the 8 games he started. Ottawa won their last game in a shootout, however they did lose in overtime to the Capitals a week ago. Alex Ovechkin has been on a role and passed Gordie Howe for 2nd all time in goals scored. This has all the makings of a good defensive game thats low scoring.
