Capitals vs. Panthers Preview: November 27, 2019

The Washington Capitals make their stand at home before the holiday. The Florida Panthers come up to DC after losing to the Caps in overtime earlier this year. They bring a strong offensive line and decent goaltending, but the Caps have their own stars. John Carlson continues his assist streak in a Norris-worthy season, while Dmitri Orlov also has 53.18 shot percentage, leading all Caps defensemen. The team is effective from both sides of the puck.

Despite a mild slump, the Capitals are still earning points as they push games into overtime. Their 16-4-5 record with 37 points is still the best in the NHL, and they are not going down quietly. The Panthers are 12-7-5 with 29 points, second in the Atlantic and trailing Boston by eight points. Though there is still time to make up that deficit. Former Capital Brett Connolly makes his return to Washington as he greets his old fans. A game of both sentimental and playoff value is on the line for both teams.
