The Washington Capitals will face the Philadelphia Flyers at home in a special matinee game today. Both teams are coming off recent skids, but the Capitals seem in better position. Despite losing two straight, their depth and core has gotten a rework for this next game.

The Caps have 94 points on the season and a 43-24-8 record. Despite the loss to the Wild on Friday, they still hold a one-point lead in the Metro Division on the Penguins and Islanders. To replace the injured Michael Kempny, the Capitals have added a defenseman by recalling Tyler Lewington from Hershey. Lewington has some experience earlier this season, and warming him up on an opponent like Philadelphia would be a good start.

The Flyers, meanwhile, are 36-31-8 with just 80 points. While not quite eliminated yet, they would have to make up a four-point deficit in just six games. They have not been scoring to their potential and rookie goalie Carter Hart has been effective, but not enough to stop the high-powered Capitals offense.

The Capitals won every game in the series so far. The most recent victory was a 5-3 contest in Philadelphia on March 14. With only six games left before the playoffs, neither team can afford to make too many mistakes. Game starts at 12:30 at Capital One Arena.
