Capitals vs Devils, another matinee showdown
The Capitals have another matinee showdown today, this time against New Jersey. After a loss yesterday, and the fact that the team isn’t good in day games, lets look at some keys to winning the game.
The defense was very lackluster in the game and at one point even left a player open in the defensive zone leading to a goal. This is not only sub par defending but also just shows a lack of effort.
Vitek Vanachek has started 13 games in a row for the Capitals. While Samsonov is coming back to game speed after being on the Covid list and unable to play, Vanachek needs a break. Hopefully this comes today with another matinee game because its hard to play back to backs esp in the goalie position.
The team also struggled while being a man up on a power play. They need to take advantage of opportunities when they are gifted opportunities like that. They are normally good at the power play at home, so look for that to be back on track in todays game.
