Capitals vs Buffalo. The 4th of 8 matchups between the two

The Capitals play the Sabers today, in an early afternoon showdown. The Caps are still without Ovi, Kuzy, Orlov, and Samsonov. While the team has played well offensively for the most part, the defense is still lacking. Because of the covid protocol and injuries, Connor McMichael will make his nhl debut. Lets look at some points that will be key to the Caps winning the game.

Keep the penalties to a minimum. The last game, the team looked way more disciplined and this helped the team to play 5-5 hockey and be able to use all four lines effectively. Look for this discipline to continue in this game.

With Tom Wilson out with an injury, look for help from unlikely sources. Players like Vrana, Sprong, Sheary, Hagelin all have a chance to step up and be a playmaker. This is on top of already great and established players like Oshie and Backstrom.

Vitek Vanachek is making his third NHL start. This is important to note because before this season, he hadn’t played in the NHL at all. This is giving him a lot of experience at the pro level.

The game is at 3 pm est and can be seen on NBC sports Washington or listened to on 106.7 fm.
