Capitals Vs. Anaheim Ducks Recap: February 17, 2019

The Washington Capitals lost to the Anaheim Ducks by a score of 5-2 on Monday. Statistically, Braden Holtby would go on to make 29 saves, but it would be simply enough as the Ducks scored in the 1rst period.

The Capitals stand at 32-20-7 and are currently in second place in the Metropolitan division. On the other hand, the Ducks are 23-27-9 and are currently in 6th place in the Pacific Division.

During the first period at 4 minutes and 48 seconds Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin, scored his 40th goal of the season and was assisted by John Carlson (43th assist of the season) and Jakub Vrana (18th assist of the season). Alex Ovechkin currently leads the NHL in the most goals right now. In the second period, Ducks Adam Henrique scored his 11th goal of the season at 6 minutes and 26 seconds in the period. Also, during the second period Jakub Silverberg scored his 14th goal of the season at 14 minutes and 7 seconds. Capitals defensemen John Carlson his 9th goal of the season and it was unassisted. Carlson’s goal was scored at 17 minutes and 1 seconds. Lastly, during the third period, Adam Henrique scored his second goal of the game and was scored at 37 seconds. Ducks Corey Perry scored his first goal of the season assisted by Cam Fowler (9th assist of the season ) and Ryan Getzlaf (27th assist of the season). Perry’s goal was scored at 3 minutes and 40 seconds. Ducks Jakob Silfverberg scored his 15th goal of the season at 14 minutes and 55 seconds.

With a loss, the Capitals play the LA. Kings tonight at Staples Center in Los Angeles.
