Capitals versus Flyers line brawl: plus thoughts

The Washington Capitals were beating the Philiphedia Flyers 7-0 when this broke out. It was the classic case of a dirty classless team not knowing how to be beaten. The Flyers basically jumped the Caps and it was not the first time it happened in the game.

Some big things to point out as their were four fights at once. The Big one is Braden Holtby versus Ray Emery which never should have happened. Holtby did not want to fight and the linesman never stepped in. The fight was very one sided as Emery has been in a few fights before. Emery got a handful of penalties and will probably be suspended. I love hockey fights but not fights like that. The linesman just stood there and did nothing, he should also be punished from the NHL.

The other fights in the brawl… the Caps held their own. Tom Wilson got jumped by Wayne Simmonds who was looking for a fight and held his own. Alexander Urbom who is not a fighter held his own and got the take down of Brayden Schenn. Steve Olesky took care of Vincent Lecavalier easily.

So the Caps had a good showing in this and only lost one fight and that was the goalie fight. Here is the final scores

Holtby versus Emery: Emery
Tom Wilson Versus Wayne Simmonds: Draw
Urbom versus Schenn: Urbom
Olesky versus Lecavalier: Olesky

Final thoughts: The Flyers need to learn how to be beat. This was a case of a dirty team with no class just looking to pick fights. One or two fights are ok but going after another teams goalie crosses the line.
