Capitals sign Pasquale

The Washington Capitals have sign Edward Pasquale to a one-year, two-way contract.   Pasquale will likely battle for a backup position or play for the Hershey Bears.  

The Capitals have been quick this offseason rebuilding their defense and goaltending.

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have signed goaltender Edward Pasquale to a one-year, two-way contract, senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.

Pasquale, 23, posted a 17-13-1 record with one shutout, a 2.43 goals-against average and a career-high .920 save percentage in 31 games with the St. John’s Ice Caps of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 2013-14. In 136 career AHL games, Pasquale has registered a 66-59-7 record with 10 shutouts, a 2.63 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage. The Toronto, Ont., posted a 21-11-1 record with four shutouts, a 2.36 goal-against average and a .913 save percentage with St. John’s during the 2011-12 season and was named to the 2011-12 AHL All-Rookie Team. Pasquale was acquired by Washington on June 28, 2014, from the Winnipeg Jets with the 159th selection in the 2014 NHL Draft in exchange for the 164th and 192nd pick in the 2014 NHL draft and a seventh-round selection in the 2015 NHL Draft. The 6’3”, 215-pound goaltender was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers in the fourth round, 117th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
