Capitals re-sign Defender Tyler Lewington

The Hershey Bears received an early gift heading into the 2018-19 season today. The Bears 81st season in the AHL will see veteran defenseman Aaron Ness on the back end and now he will be joined by his partner from this season Tyler Lewington. Lewy today was signed to a two year deal with the Washington Capitals. This deal is a two way contract, meaning he could be assigned to Hershey and be a possible recall option next season.

Lewington, a 23 year old defenseman, recorded 11 points (2g, 9a) in 71 games with the Hershey Bears this season. Lewington didn’t shy away from the physicality at all as he ranked third in the AHL in penalty minutes (149). Lewy as he is call was also very consistent and versatile this season as he ranked third among Hershey defensemen in games played (71). Lewington is the only Bears defenseman to participate in at least 70 games in each of the last two seasons.
