Capitals Player Profile–“The Great Dane” Lars Eller

Lars Eller was drafted with the 13th overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft  by the St.Louis Blues. The 6’2 Center hails from Rodovre, Denmark. He made his NHL debut in November 2009 against the Calgary Flames. That night he scored his first career NHL goal.

His career would take a turn in the summer of 2010, when the Blues traded him to the Montreal Canadiens. Lars would go on to play six seasons with the Canadiens before being traded to the Washington Capitals in the summer of 2016.

Lars has shown great promise in the short time he has been in Washington.  So far in the 2017-18 season, he has found a home as the third line center between Andre Burakovsky and Chandler Stephenson. His play-making ability has been a proven asset for this Caps team. The Caps secured their third line center long-term with a 5-year, 17.5 million dollar extension in February 2018.
