It could be a special day for Caps forward and captain Alex Ovechkin. Ovi is just one goal short of fourty for the season and three away from 600 for his NHL career. Ovechkin, would become the twentieth player in NHL history to reach 600 goals and the fourth to do it in fewer than 1,000 games, joining Wayne Gretzky (718 games), Mario Lemieux (719) and Brett Hull (900), according to the Elias Sports Bureau. While were at it Ovechkin, has played 985 games, and is looking to reach the fourty goal mark for an amazing ninth time in his thirteen NHL seasons. He’d be just the sixth player in NHL history to get forty or more goals in at least nine seasons!

The Capitals (36-21-7) are right now in first place in the Metro Division, one point ahead of the second place Philadelphia Flyers and three ahead of the third place Pittsburgh Penguins. The game itself against Toronto will be both teams third game outdoors. Both teams have a lot riding on the two points that are on the line in Annapolis on Saturday night.
