Capitals need to rally around Ovechkin from afar, step up in his absence

The Washington Capitals Captain Alex Ovechkin had to leave the team to help with an ailing family matter. Ovechkin traveled to Russia see his father who passed away on Wednesday. Ovechkin’s parents used to be a mainstay at Capitals games until recent years. When Ovechkin first moved to America to play for the Capitals his parents came with him.

Ovechkin met with the team on Tuesday and they offered their support. Head Coach Peter Laviolette said that Ovie will be out for at least a week and miss the Stadium Series game.

The Capitals need to rally together and all play better, Ovechkin is such a huge member of the Capitals in all assets of the minus the penalty kill.

The Caps will miss Ovechkin’s leadership and power play prowess while Ovie mourns his fathers passing. The Caps need to rally for a few wins and make Ovechkin proud.

All of us at MSB send our condolences to Ovechkin and his family. We all hope that Ovechkin is given enough time to mourn and is a good state of mind when he returns.
