Capitals fall to Blackhawks: first impressions

The Washington Capitals lost to the Chicago Blackhawks last night 6-4 in their first game of the season.  It was great having hockey back so lets take a look at how the Caps did.

The big surprise was Mikhail Grabovski who scored a hat trick, two of the goals came on power plays.  The Caps power play was very good, they had three of their four goals on it.  Alex Ovechkin also had a goal and an assist.

The Caps need to get better defensively, they allowed way too many goals.  That goes without saying, allowing any more than three goals is too many.

It was also nice seeing Brooks Laich back.  Laich is a true team guy and the Caps really missed him last season.

There are a lot of new players for the Caps so it could take them time to jell.

I am still looking to add a Caps writer to the team for this season.  I will not be able to watch every game even though hockey is “my sport” I need help with all the coverage.
