Capitals Defeat Sabers 5-1

The Washington Capitals finally looked like the Capitals we have been wanting to see. The Capitals beat the Buffalo Sabers 5-1 in D.C.

Evgeny Kuznetsov and Alex Ovechkin had the scoring going tonight. Ovechkin had a two goal game, and Kuznetsov had one goal and three assist. Kuznetsov started the game scoring in the first two minutes of the game dangling two defenders and the goalie for a beauty of a goal.

Philip Grubauer had himself a great night stopping 28 shots. Not sure if this was a game to show off his talents before the trade deadline, but I hope the Capitals keep him since Holtby has been struggling.

Andre Burakovsky is now on a three-game goal streak with a goal in the second period. Lars Eller had an empty net goal in the third.

The team performance in tonight’s game is the way the Capitals should be playing every night. They finally started the game scoring first, no bad penalties and there passes looked great. Who knows who might and who might not be on the team on Monday, but hopefully this is the momentum they need with the playoffs a month away.
