Buck Showalter awarded Manager of the Year

The Baltimore Orioles had a fantastic season that included three post season victories.  A large part of the success had to do with manager Buck Showalter who won the 2012 Sporting News Manager of the Year.

Showalter had to use many different players this season and led the Orioles even when they lost stars like Nick Markakis.  The Orioles were win away from advancing to the ALCS but fell to the Yankees in game five of the divisional round.

Part of Showalter’s success came from giving players confidence by letting them play.  Players like Steve Johnson and Chris Tillman got chances to play and took advantage of it.
