Browns lose best player, remain winless

The Cleveland Browns lose again, sounds a bit repetitive at this point, Right? The Cleveland Browns (0-6)  and Tennessee Titans(3-3) faced off in Cleveland on Sunday. In a game which no touchdowns were scored by either team, Tennessee Titans snuck out of Cleveland with a 12-9 overtime victory. The Cleveland Browns have lost four games by only 3 points so that’s one slightly positive thing.

When it rains it pours for the Cleveland Browns not only did they lose the game, they lost their starting left tackle, Joe Thomas, for the season, Thomas played 10,363 straight snaps all for the Browns.  Thomas is by far the Browns best player.

The game felt very slow, Ryan Succup was the MVP of this game with 4 field goals including the game winner in over time. Browns starting QB for this game was rookie Deshonne Kizer who once again struggled. Kizer finished 12/20 for 102 yards, no TD’s and 2 costly interceptions. He was replaced by Cody Kessler in the second half.

Titans were able to score a Field Goal in the first quarter. The Browns were unable to score any points in the first quarter. In the second quarter the Browns were able to get a field goal on the board after forcing a Delanie Walker fumble, leaving the score at 3-3. Shortly after the Browns managed to tie the game the Titans respond with a 70 yard drive but were stopped at the goal line by the Browns defense and turned the ball over on downs. The Browns were in business driving down the length of the field until Kizer threw a wildly inaccurate pass which was intercepted by Kevin Byard deep in Tennessee terrority.

The second half was the same lackluster offense by both teams, Kizer was picked off again and eventually benched for the likes of Cody Kessler. The Browns managed 2 more field goals in the second half eventually tying the game at 9 with 47 seconds on the clock. Cleveland won the coin toss and received the Ball, they proceeded to go 3 and out and punt the ball away. Tennessee gained some yards but the Browns managed to keep them out of field goal range. Browns get the ball back deep on their own territory and they could never escape it. Browns punted the ball away to the Titans, who took advantage of their great field position, managed to get into field goal range and Ryan Succup delivers the game winner after Browns head coach Hue Jackson tries to “ice” him.

Postitive news for the Browns is the defense played well enough to keep them in the game and keep Tennessee from scoring any touchdowns. Hang in their Browns fans, you’re getting closer and closer .
