Brian MacLellan Hopes For Long-Term Contract For Tom Wilson Soon

General manager Brian MacLellan is hoping to sign Tom Wilson to a long-term contract soon. Per NBC Sports Washington’s Tarik El-Brashir, MacLellan will meet with Tom Wilson agent on Tuesday and work out a contract.

The Capitals did extend a qualifying offer to Wilson to retain his rights ahead of free agency. Wilson is coming off his best season so far in his young career. The 24 year old right-winger was promoted to the top line playing with Alex Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov and produced 35 points with 14 goals and 21 assist.

Wilson is a fan favorite with his physical style of player and is also a favorite in the locker room. Wilson wants to re-sign and hopefully he will be a Capitals for a long time.
