BREAKING NEWS: Max Holloway Out of UFC 223
UFC 223 is having a rough week. Max Holloway is officially out of UFC 223.
The Featherweight Champion Max Holloway has been deemed medically unfit to fight. Holloway was scheduled to face Khabib Nurmagimedov April 7th in the main event for the Lightweight Title.
The loss of Holloway vs. Nurmagomedov marks the fourth fight to be scratched from UFC 223 over a 48-hour span, adding to the trio of fights lost on Thursday because of Conor McGregor’s attack on a fighter bus. Due to McGregor’s bus attack it looks like another fighter from the same card is going to replace Holloway.
As it stands, Anthony Pettis, a former Lightweight Champion could be replacing Holloway. Pettis’ original UFC 223 fight against Michael Chiesa cancelled on Thursday after Chiesa ended up injured in McGregor’s bus attack. Pettis did not weigh in yet. Holloway took to Twitter this morning,
. @TeamKhabib my brother I want to keep going but they are stopping me. Sorry to your team and the fans. You don’t deserve this. This is number one. Shout outs to you and @Showtimepettis . Give the fans what they deserve
