Breaking down the 2020 D.C. United schedule

The 2020 MLS season will be the 25th season and D.C. United has several exciting matchups in store. The 34 game slate begins on February 29th at 1 p.m. from Audi Field against the Colorado Rapids.

MLS said the schedule will feature each team playing conference opponents once at home, once on the road and 10 games against none conference opponents. There will only be three teams the Black and Red won’t see this season, the Portland Timbers, Real Salt Lake and Sporting KC.

D.C. United will play brand new club Nashville SC on April 18 in Tennessee. Other early season highlights include the resuming of the Atlantic Cup rivalry against the New York Red Bulls on April 26 at Audi Field and in New Jersey on May 23.

A lot of the games fall on weekends, some close to the brand new XFL Defenders who will also share the same pitch at Audi Field in the early part of the spring. Though their first game and United’s are about two weeks apart. United will also host the expansion Inter Miami CF in their second game and New York City FC on Friday April 3, five days after the Defenders last game.

D.C. United will also travel to San Jose on April 11 and host Toronto FC, the club that knocked them out last season, on April 14, which will be a rare Tuesday night treat.
