Bowie Baysox Weekly Recap 7-12-7/15

The Bowie Baysox are still 9 games below .500, on paper the Baysox should be a lot better than that, down the stretch I think the Baysox will find their rhythm and become more consistent. Here is a weekly recap from each of the games this week.

Game 1: 7/12/18: Baysox 7 Fightin Phils 5

In the first game back from the double-A all star break, the Baysox get the come from behind win after Brian Gonzalez goes a full 7 innings and the Baysox come back from a huge deficit in the last inning. Despite the ammount of runs allowed (5) it really wasn’t that bad of a start, he just had some early troubles. Tanner Chleborad was solid in a scoreless inning to ear the win and Kline threw a scoreless inning for the save. Offensively, there were several hitters with multiple hits so this was really a team victory. The Baysox are down 1-5 coming into the 9th and come back off of contributions throughout the whole lineup, Ryan Mountcastle was ultimately the one who gave the Baysox the lead, Mountcastle doubled in 2 runs with 2 outs. Definitely a great win.

Game 2: 7/13/18: Baysox 4 Fighting Phils 5

A similar start to Brian Gonzalez’s last night, Christian Binford goes 7 innings while allowing 5 runs. The runs were just spread out throughout the game, he just made a few mistakes. For Reading, former 1st round pick, Adam Haseley, hit his first two home runs at the double-A level. For Bowie, Corban Joseph had the only multi hit game, he was 2-4.

Game 3: 7/14/18: Baysox 3 Fightin Phils 8

Reid Love gets the start but he lasts just 3.2 innings, allowing 7 runs. This really put the offense out of the game so this game was kind of out of their hands quick. Anderson Feliz and Aderlin Rodriguez both had 2 hit games.

Game 4: 7/15/18: Baysox 7 Fightin Phils 1

Keegan Akin hopefully is back to being dominant again, today he goes 5 innings, allowing 1 run, and striking out 5. Akin did walk 4 so that is a bit of a concern but I think he will continue to regain his control each start. Luis Gonzalez was great out of the pen, throwing 3 scoreless innings and Jay Flaa came in to strike out the side in his only inning. Jaycob Brugman finished with 3 hits including a homer, Martin Cervenka finished with 2 hits including a homer, and Aderlin Rodriguez homered also. Anderson Feliz also had a 3 hit day.

The Baysox didn’t have the best week, it was a short week so hopefully with the extra rest they can have a successful full week next week.
