Bowie Baysox weekly recap: 4/23 to 4/30

The Baysox are going into this week looking to improve upon their 9-7 record. After a disappointing week last week the Baysox play Richmond at home, Akron, and Erie on the road. Here is a recap from each of those games:

Game 1: 4/23/18: Richmond 2 Bowie 4
The Baysox win the first game of the series with Mark Trumbo in the lineup on a rehab stint… Trumbo ended the night 1-3 with a walk. Martin Cervenka hit a home run also. The player of the game for this one is Adrian Marin going 2-2 with 2 walks and 2 runs.

Game 2: 4/24/18: Richmond@Bowie PPD

Game 3: 4/25/18: Richmond 2 Bowie 3
The Baysox win again to take the short series from the Flying Squirrels. Mark Trumbo goes 0-4 in another game of his rehab stint. Keegan Akin looks like he has become used to the competition in Bowie and is beginning to pitch well on a regular basis. He goes 6 innings of no run ball and just 3 hits. He is the player of the game.

Game 4: 4/27/18: Bowie 1 Akron 2
A pitchers duel in Akron but the Baysox fall to the Rubberducks. Hunter Harvey pitches 4 innings striking out 6 and no runs. Akron walks it off on Luis Ysla in the bottom of the ninth. The player of the game for this one is Hunter Harvey. Striking out 6 in just 4 innings.

Game 5: 4/28/18: Bowie 3 Akron 11
The Baysox come out of the gate hot, scoring 2 runs in the first inning and 1 in the fourth buy the offense could not stay consistent the whole game. The pitching was not good. Michael Kelly, Long, and Fry all give up multiple runs, and the Baysox fall. Erick Salecedo gets the player of the game going 1-4 with an RBI.

Game 6: 4/29/18: Bowie 1 Akron 7
The defense commits 3 errors and the offense was silent also. John Means pitches 4.2 innings, only giving up 2 earned runs but 7 runs in all. Again the defense and the offense could not come together and the Baysox lose this one and Akron sweeps the series. Erick Salecedo, the Shortstop gets the player of the game, going 1-4 with a RBI.

Game 7: 4/30/18: Bowie 2 Erie 6
The defense once again loses the game for the Baysox. Committing three errors and giving up three unearned runs. The offense actually out hits the Erie Seawolves but the Bowie Baysox just couldn’t get the big hit. The player of the game in this one goes to Corban Joseph 2-3, 2 walks, and an RBI.

The Baysox finish the week with an overall record of 11-11. Defense killed the Baysox this week, giving up many unearned runs. Hopefully next week they will stay more consistent.
