Bears painful loss to Lehigh Valley ends 7-2

With only twenty two seconds left in the first period Lehigh Valley would strike first when Greg Carey would slip one by Pheonix Copley making it 1-0 at the end of the first period. At 2:54 in the second period Zach Sill and Tyler Lewington would tally an assist as Garrett Mitchell gets his first goal after coming back from an injury. The score was now 1-1, but that would quickly change as Lehigh Valley would score three goals in a span of just over two minutes during the second period.

The first goal scored at 8:21 in the period by Tyrell Gouldbourne would make it 2-1. Phil Varone would score at 9:59 making it 3-1, and at 10:34 Corban Knight would score again quickly making it 4-1. The scoring frenzy wasn’t over when at 6:32 in the third period Lehigh Valley would score yet again as Nicolas Aube-Kubel would make it 5-1.

Hershey would then answer back when Liam O’Brien scored his fourth goal of the season at 10:44 in the third. With the score at 5-2, it was decided that Copley would be pulled for an extra skater and Lehigh Valley’s Mark Alt would score at 17:39 on the empty net. With Copley back in the crease Greg Carey would get his second goal of the night at 18:01 in the third making the final score 7-2.

Lehigh Valley outshot the bears 41-23. Hershey will be back home Saturday at 7pm to go against the Milkwaukee Admirals for the first time since 2006. Sunday night will also be at Giant Center puck drops at 5pm to battle rivals Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins for Hershey’s Annual Teddy Bear Toss night.
