Ravens pick up LT Stanley’s fifth year option.
The Baltimore Ravens have picked up the fifth year option on their left tackle Ronnie Stanley. The Ravens drafted Stanley at number six overall in the 2016 NFL draft. Stanley has proven to be a great option at left tackle and is still only 25 years of age. The Ravens will likely look to lock him up long-term next off season. As a starting tackle, his job will be to block for the new young talent of Lamar Jackson and to create holes for new running back option, Mark Ingram. Welcome back number 79 to the purple and black.

The Ravens have exercised the fifth-year option on left tackle Ronnie Stanley.
Exercising the fifth-year option keeps Stanley under contract through 2020, extending him beyond his four-year rookie deal, which was set to expire in 2019. The fifth-year option will pay Stanley around $13 million in 2020.
Stanley, who was the sixth overall pick in 2016, has been a starter since his rookie season. Despite dealing with a lingering ankle injury suffered in Week 8, Stanley is coming off his best season in 2018 when he was a Pro Bowl alternate. Pro Football Focus graded Stanley 16th among all NFL offensive tackles.
Still only 25 years old, Stanley has continued to improve each season, and General Manager Eric DeCosta indicated at the Combine that exercising Stanley’s fifth-year option was likely.
“I think he’s playing extremely well and I loved the way he finished the season,” DeCosta said. “We’re excited about him moving forward. He’s a great young man, he’s motivated, he’s a good player at a really, really important position.”
