Orioles vs Giants 6/2/19 rubber match preview/lineups

The Baltimore Orioles opened up the current three-game set with the San Francisco Giants with a 9-6 victory.

The victory was led by Dwight Smith Jr.’s grand slam, Trey Mancini’s two-run shot, and a solo bomb in the seventh by Renato Nunez. All the offense came after the Giants jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the opening inning.

The Orioles would drop the middle game of the series and the opening game of June in dominating fashion 8-2 at the hands of the Giants offense and seven innings of terrific pitching by Shaun Anderson. Brandon Belt would “belt” in half of the Giants offensive runs, with help from Evan Longoria, Joe Panik, Buster Posey, and Mike Yastrzemski.

Today the 23-34 Giants go back to work against the hometown Baltimore Orioles, who work with a 18-40 record. It is a far cry from the early first place Orioles, or even the .500 Orioles from just a few weeks ago.

On the mound today for the O’s is Gabriel Ynoa. He goes to the hill with an 0-1 record, along with a 5.40 ERA, but 22 strikeouts and just seven walks to speak on. In 10 games, Ynoa has started just once and has pitched a combined 21.2 innings.

The opposing pitcher today for the Giants is the tall 12-year veteran Jeff Samardzija. He goes to the bump in Baltimore with a 2-4 record, 3.83 ERA, and 45 strikeouts across 56.1 innings pitched. Samardzija has started 11 games this season, averaging 5.1 innings per outing. Samardzija has walked 19 batters this season, averaging a walk just about every three innings.
