Baltimore Orioles Opening Day Preview

Baltimore Thu, March 29 – 3:05PM — You may be feeling a little orange today but thats normal considering the orange carpet is out and ready for Thursday afternoon’s home opener. Getting his career first Opening Day start, the Orioles will give right-hander Dylan Bundy the ball to start the 2018 season against the 2017 Wild Card winner, Minnesota Twins.

Also making his first Opening Day start, the Twins right-hander Jake Odorizzi, acquired from the Rays mid- February the Orioles will go against a familiar foe. In 200 AB’s last season the Orioles racked up 55 hits, 12 HR’s, batting .275 AVG, .330 OBP, and .500 SLG.

Important to note, Weather early seems to be in favor of the ball flying out of the yard on Opening Day. Giving the Orioles an advantage due to Odorizzi letting up multiple homers to three O’s, Davis (3), Jones (2), and Machado (4).

For the Orioles, Bundy emerged as the ace of the rotation in 2017. As a full-time starter Bundy went 13-9 with a 4.24ERA in 28 starts. When asked about the honor of the Opening Day assignment Bundy said, “I wasn’t even expecting it or thinking it really”.

Bundy vs Twins 2017: 41 AB’s, 2HR, 5 RBI’s, batting .171 AVG, .244 OBP, .341 SLG

Boogie’s Prediction:

  • Machado: 3 RBI HR
  • #BundyDay: 6.0, 2 ER, 5 H, 6 K’s
  • Sano: 1-4 HR
    • Orioles win 6-2 over the Twins
