Baltimore Orioles Fall To New York Yankees

The Baltimore Orioles fall to the New York Yankees nine to three at Camden Yards. This game featured a powerful pitching between the Orioles’ Asher Wojciechowski and the Yankees’ Gerrit Cole. All in all, the Orioles fought well against the Yankees all night but the long ball played the greatest factor in this game.

In the first inning, the Orioles started off rough with DJ LeMahieu hitting a one run home run off of the second pitch he saw. After that, the Orioles had two catcher interference calls against them, which made Aaron Judge end up on second base and Giancarlo Stanton ending up on first.

With one out in the top of the first, Mike Ford hit a sacrifice fly ball which brought in Judge to give the Yankees a two to nothing score. The Orioles got up to bat and eventually drove in Austin Hays from second with a shot to center field.

Wojciechowski settled down after the first inning to eventually strike out seven batters in five innings pitched. In the later innings, the Orioles turned up their offense with a home run from Dwight Smith Jr. who went one-for-four in the ball game. Jose Iglesias finished the game with two runs batted in.

Overall, the Orioles were competitive and there are reasons to be excited for the future of this team. The Orioles are looking for a series split when they play the Yankees tomorrow.
